Reader's Theater is perfect for both middle and high school students.
What will my student do during the course?
Reader's Theater teaches students to breakdown a literary scripts and perform using only their voice.
This vital skill is beneficial not only to actors, but also to anyone looking to improve their communication and public speaking skills.
What kind of scripts will my student read?
Students select their stories to read. Most students choose children's books and fairy tales.
Students receive guidance regarding script selection to ensure they pick something well suited to the Reader's Theater platform.
How will my student attend class?
Classes meet once per week for four weeks via Zoom. The final class meeting will include each students performance.
What equipment will my student need?
Each student needs access to Zoom. This can be via a laptop with a web cam and microphone, a tablet, or smart phone. Students will not need any technical equipment such as cameras, lighting, or recording devices.
Who teaches the course?
The Reader's Theater course is taught by Britt Powell.
Britt has more than 20 years in theatrical performance experience, and is an award winning Reader's Theater performer who has performed on stages around the country.
In addition to her own performances Britt has coached dozens of performers to national awards.
